About Samsung

Samsung was established in 1938 by Lee Byung Chul as a trading company in South Korea, and headquarter of Samsung is in Seoul. In 1960 Samsung moved into the electronics industry and established their new division with the name of Samsung electronics that is further divided into five business units, which are Samsung computers, Telecommunications systems division, Samsung mobile division, Telecommunication R&D Centre and MP3 Business Team.

The telecommunication network was launched in 1977 and mobile telecommunication business was established in 1983 by Samsung electronics. Then in 1986, Samsung launched its first ever car phone into the market, the SC-100, which was not very successful, but still Mr Ki Tae Lee didn't give up on the mobile business. Then after 2 years of R&D on Motorola mobile phones, in 1988, Samsung launched its 1st mobile phone, the SH-100 that is also the 1st mobile to be developed in Korea. Although at that time mobile phones were not very popular and only those who have big pockets could afford it so not many units were sold.

Then in 2010, Samsung has launched its flagship mobile phone, the Samsung Galaxy S, which instantly gained the attention of mobile consumers worldwide, and got very popular in very less time. This Samsung's smartphone gave very tough competition to the Apple's IPhone, which is quite evident from the fact that over 1 million units of Galaxy S were sold within the first 45 days of sale in the USA.

Before 2013, Samsung was using a variety of operating systems on their mobile phones, but then from 2013 they only concentrated on using windows phone and Android OS. At the end of 2015, the Samsung has sold over 85 million mobiles, smartphones and tablets and captured almost 21% share of the mobile market worldwide, and became the most popular smartphone brand in India, with massive fan following.
